The Correct Position At The Top Of The Backswing Is Extremely Important

backswing-positionI do agree with Mr. Hogan’s belief that if the golfer can get in the correct position in the back-swing it makes the through-swing much easier. Here I’m working with student Kyam. We’ve drastically improved his hand action through impact… now we have to give him the correct position in the back-swing so he can capitalize on that. Kyam’s hurdle is that since he’s a surfer, he tends to keep his upper body facing the ball and moves his feet/legs. It’s a great and fun challenge to reverse that for golf, to keep the lower-body a bit more still and support the upper body/torso as it coils and uncoils.
